Children Safe Uganda – Bweya Children Home (BCH) is a transitional rehabilitation home for a period of 1 to 3 years multidisciplinary protection/rehabilitation program working to meet the basic needs of food, accommodation, education, medical care; counselling, emotional and spiritual development of a child. It is our goal that within than period of living in transitional rehabilitation, the child can either be reconciled with his/her family or be found permanent housing through foster care or adoption.
Some of these children had become sexually active, alcoholics, thieves, and drug users at a very young age. Since most of them come from very poor /primitive backgrounds, they don’t understand basic hygiene habits, and have never slept in a bed, or sat in a classroom. Through this program, we work towards enabling the children to regain their self-esteem and to groom responsible individuals who can take care of themselves and others.
Children Safe Uganda – BCH Program is overseen by child Development facilitator who works closely with several staff. Our children’s home was approved by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development in 1968. Currently Children Safe Uganda has 82 children ranging from 6 to 18 years (Boys and girls). 38 are residents and the rest have been already resettled in different families.
